Meet Shawna

Crafty for as long as I can remember

I make custom wood signs and gifts in Chapel Hill, Tennessee, with a CNC router, a laser named Bessie, and a lot of help from my family.

Wood has always been my favorite thing to create with. In December 2021 I opened SheNanagans Designs with high hopes of turning it into my retirement plan. Fingers still crossed.

A little bit obsessed

I learned on plywood, and it was slow. I may have killed a few trees figuring out my first ornaments. Then came the laser, and I got a little obsessed. Okay, a lot obsessed. In 2023 we brought home Bessie, a big ole heifer of a laser, and she’s been busy ever since.

I work in new and reclaimed wood, plus slate, glass, acrylic, and metal. Some of my favorite pieces start as old boards, like wood that came out of Tony’s grandpa’s workshop more than 30 years ago.

Made with my family

My husband Tony is my partner in all of it. We’ve been married since 1994. He works on orders right alongside me, he’s gifted me more than one shop tool (including the one that fixes my screw-ups on the boards), and he asks the important questions, like whether I want to try a new design on the cheap wood or go for broke.

Our kids take the pictures I can’t, cheer me on, and help out at markets. I honestly couldn’t do SheNanagans without them.

Custom is my favorite

Most of what I make starts with a message. Tell me who it’s for and what you have in mind, and we’ll figure out the wood, the stain, and the words together. We can change up the bow, the saying, or the whole sign.

Family name signs, nursery signs, and Tennessee signs. Personalized ornaments and memorial pieces. Cutting boards, and recipe boards in your family’s own handwriting. Tumblers, coasters, earrings, porch signs, and something new every season.

Whatever it is, I hope you love it as much as I loved making it.
